Small Organization vs Big Organization

This article referring to my strange experiences in search of a breaking opportunity.

I have been through different interview’s in different organizations some of them were well reputed companies.

I did well in technical and all rounds, but the end i faced the most difficult part. They kept my resume on hold that, I am working on  a Small organization, not on a Tier company.  What was they worried about?, about the quality of development i am going to deliver?.

When i am applying for the vacancy, they should first look i am professionally qualified or not, technically qualified or not, analytically qualified or not, communication skills are good or not.  I have been rejected chance because i am working on a small organization and for the reason my organization doesn’t follow certain development paradigms.

It’s all feels really odd for me. Why would they do such comparison?. I will never complaint about my current organization, whether they follows certain software development standard or not, It’s a place where i polished my skills. The 3.6 years of experience in my current organization has taught me a lot, the works were all innovative, it improved my knowledge and technical skills.  I treasure the knowledge i gained from here and i always will remember it. It was a quite a good chance for me, they encouraged me in everything. It might not be comparable to other tier companies, but it’s  also a company which does software development.

Each company has it’s own way for Delivering Quality and Software Development Model.  Each company decides what process they should follow, that’s all up to the interest of the company management, a single employee like me can’t make any difference. Some consider “Customer is the King”,  and some other consider “Money is the King”, and some “Quality is the king”. Over all every one does the similar efforts to satisfy the customer, if the customer is satisfied only we are going to get paid.

Each organization has it’s own rules, responsibilities. If the organization has certain standard, all other employee or newly joins also will follow the same. Same is the case regarding QUALITY, if an organization want to follow development based on QUALITY, all other employees in the organization also will try to follow the same. As far as i know, my company is also good in IT Services and Development, but lower level people like me have not much exposure on Requirement Gathering, Client Interaction, Business Models. That’s the only different would be there. I am sure same would be the situation in every Organization.

Over all it’s up the organization to use a certain standard in development and Quality,  How come an employee been rejected that his organization is not following it, by other companies?. It does not make any sense, not every one comes with full knowledge on “Software Engineering practices”, when some one give chance only he can experience. If none of you big company people are not ready to give a chance for us, how we are going to experience it.

Once I/We get a chance, we can learn and do the things. If the company has certain paradigm, we will also defenitly follow that.  With hard work and dedication,we can show them that we are worthy, we can show them that “We Too can handle that”.

I have strong technical knowledge and skills, in all interviews i am getting through the technical round easily, and in final round only people are in dilemma to take me and getting rejected for the same reason.

If the newly joined employee doesn’t know about the rules of the company, most of the companies would have an “Induction Training“, which trains the employee about the rules and standards of the company and employee adapts that organization. That’s what should have been happening around. Instead i was been rejected simply, with out letting me prove my worth.

Not every one got the chance to start their career with Fortune 500 companies, it takes some time for some people. That’s why me and other people start our career with small companies, expecting that step-by-step, one step at a time and we will get up to top.  People like me would like to wait for our chance and some times after finally we will.

We are not working in Fortune 500 companies, that doesn’t mean that we are good for nothing, our experience and expertise is good for nothing. We also can do the same like other tier company employees, if we get a proper training and practice. If no body is going to give a chance for a practice, How could we come forward? and make our place.

This message is  to all out there, those Tier / Fortune 500 companies who rejected me and all others for the same reason. You should change, you should think and understand that, a good qualified professional can achieve anything if he is technically strong and he is having the willingness to succeed. So i don’t bother you reject me or not, one day  defenitly prove myself to you or to the world, that day you will regret, you missed such a nice chance to employ him. That’s all for now.
